Digital Game : Pong Shi

THEME : THE 5 ELEMENT ( Fire, Earth, Metal, Water and Wood)

ROLES:
Producer/Audio Designer ------ Lau Ping Shi
Game Designer/Artist ----------- Irwan Shah
Main Programmer ---------------- Jeremy Cheng
Artist ------------------------------ Vanessa Lu

Game Type: Top down Survival Shooter Game
Button: One button plus mouse

Game Concept:
The game involves the player controlling the main character as he moves around shooting and killing various enemy types in wave form in order to survive.
The player only controls the mouse to move the character around the screen. Shooting is automatic and the player only has to click if he wants to activate the 'Flame Shot' which is a more powerful variant of the regular shot but this is only available if enemies killed drop those special items form player to collect. There is also another special power up which allow player to avoid hits and damage from weaker enemies but it does not work for the attack from boss enemies. As the player kills, his kills are counted and based on the number of kills, boss monsters would spawn. As time progresses, more enemies would spawn making it harder for players to survive and player would face more and more difficult boss enemies. Players play for a high score achievement by killing as many enemies while trying to survive the endless wave of enemies.

Contribution in team:
As the producer in the team I discuss with team mates and come out together with the idea of making a top down survival shooter game. I also ensure that the progression of the game is on par with the project time span given to us.

As the sound designer I am also in charge of editting audio and ensuring it fits with the theme of our game. All the sound related in the game are edit from different audio software to give a uniqueness to our game sound.

I also playtest to give feedback to my team programmer and game designer area in the game which need to be change so as to make it be more fun and balance as previously being a casual player I personally find that some area of the game seem to be more challenging so changes was made.  Ensuring that the whole gameplay is smooth and enjoyable to other player.

Our Analog Game is a game that are from the popular digital game Asteroids. We use similar concept of the digital game Asteroid and transform our game into a Analog Game with similar gameplay as Asteroid but made changes and add in new ideas into our Game for our Analog Game Theory Understanding Test Project.

My Role in the team would be helping out with the GDD also known as the Game Design Document which we document down the whole process and changes we made through the whole process of making the game. I also contributed in generating new ideas and playtesting of the game. Balancing of gameplay together with team member.

The game is played using a 12 sided dice and 20 sided dice and the Asteriods are the pieces in paper form and the red clips are the ships. All the game rules and game play can be seen in the GDD.
